IBU Summer Biathlon - a world record event
IBU Summer Biathlon has one of the most gorgeous and challenging courses in all of South East Asia. It's located only 10KM away from the city center of Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia, and just as challenging is that of the local wildlife that frequent the region. The IBU is a great distance away but still offers the same challenge that's found in any biathlon regatta. Athletes compete against some of the finest teams in the world, some of them coming from places like Europe, USA, and Japan.
The IBU is built on a flat sandy track that was originally used for polo and is now used as a place for a biathlon. The is flat and has lots of turns and bends. As you would expect the competition is excellent and teams need to race against powerful winds and currents. In terms of individual competition, the defending champion won the first two events in his career.
The night event is another gigantic attraction for the IBU. The B-Final is an exciting race and brings some of the best names in European. One of the athletes holds the world record in the 100 m and the French have had some great success at this track as well.
The course is acceptable for competitive athletes at any given level. The design of this course means that there is not the same challenge for everyone. If you are a novice, you'll find some of the issues that are present in more advanced courses. Competition against others that are half your age and above provides excellent experience.
However, experienced athletes might feel challenged by the arrangement of the program. The obstacles include large upward and downward banks, narrow entrances and chicanes. The course is not flat but has gradual slopes making it suitable for all skill levels. This means that even a novice can appreciate IBU without the danger of harm.
The course is designed to be suitable for all abilities with some difficult elements. However, many will find the challenging aspects to be readily glued and the challenges of the competition far outweighed by the sheer enjoyment of that IBU competitions. There are over 90 bunkers and submerged curves, giving every swimmer a tough fight on each occasion. The program is considered one of the toughest sporting events in Europe and is a massive hit with fans of me IBU summer biathlon.
